An SUV driven by Sherry Fields, 73, of Waynetown awaits a tow truck after slamming into the north wall of Dollar General in Waynetown at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. LynAnne Carmichael, manager of the retail store, said she hopes to reopen in no more than two weeks’ time. Though damage estimates were unavailable at the scene, Carmichael said thousands of dollars of damage were sustained as dozens of bottles of wine alcohol were destroyed in addition to structural repairs, as five employees will be “out of a job” until the store reopens. With no insurance coverage on the 2001 Chevy Tahoe, Fields was issued a citation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office on the scene. Responding agencies included the Waynetown Volunteer Fire Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, S.T.A.R. Ambulance and Wilson Towing.
