Sugar Creek Players announce lineup

The Sugar Creek Players have announced their upcoming 2019-20 season.

The first show of the year will be an Agatha Christie mystery play, “And Then There Were None.” The play is based on her best-selling mystery novel which has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide and is one of the best novels of all time. Ten strangers with secret pasts must find out who the killer is before there is no one left. The show will be Sept. 20-22 and Sept. 27-29 and is sponsored by Hannum Insurance.

Next is “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” by Jahnna Beecham and Malcolm Hillgartner. This musical follows the Herdmans, the worst kids in the history of the world. Watch as they storm their local Sunday school and demand roles in the Christmas show. A great holiday show for the whole family to enjoy. The show will be Dec. 6-8 and Dec. 13-15, and is sponsored by Hoosier Heartland State Bank.

“Lion King Jr.” the children’s musical is based on the Disney animated film and Broadway musical written by Elton John, Hans Zimmer, Tim Rice and many other industry giants. It will be the third show of the season. Witness the young lion Simba as he learns how to be the king of Pride Rock. The show will play Feb. 14-16 and Feb. 21-23, and is sponsored by Arni’s.

Performed nearly a decade ago on the Vanity Stage, the next show will be “Arsenic and Old Lace” by Joseph Kesselring. The famous play turned film from the 1940s follows a newlywed Mortimer visiting his eccentric spinster aunts. Death and mayhem follows as Mortimer tries to solve it all. Come see this hilarious show and see what Mortimer finds. The show will be April 17-19 and April 24-26, and is sponsored by Hay-Bush Mechanical & ServiceMaster.

The teen summer musical will be “Thoroughly Modern Millie” by Jeanine Tesori, Dick Scanlan and Richard Morris. The musical tells of a small-town girl traveling to New York City to make a grand new life for herself during the Roaring Twenties. Little does she know the trouble the Jazz Age will bring her. The show will be June 5-7 and June 12-14, and is sponsored by Angie Williams Realtor/FC Tucker.

Closing the season is the pop musical, “Mamma Mia” by Catherine Johnson. The musical is based on the music of the multi-platinum selling Disco supergroup, ABBA. Fall in love with the songs of this Swedish giant while enjoying an entertaining love triangle in Greece. The musical will be July 24-26 and July 31 through Aug. 2, and is sponsored by J.M. Thompson Insurance.

Showtimes will be at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2:30 p.m .on Sundays. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for youth (18 and younger). Season tickets are available for $60 per adult or $40 for youth. Flex passes are available and give patrons more choices when selecting a show to go see.
