Sugar Creek Players present On with the Show

On with the Show is not just the Vanity’s next show, it’s their mindset.

COVID-19 has hit us all hard, and it left the Sugar Creek Players wanting a way to entertain safely. Director Megan Birk was able to reach out to Vanity alumni to create an audio masterpiece of great performers singing and dancing to their favorite songs.

“I’ve been blessed to have wonderful friends capable of helping to make this show a possibility,” Birk said. “Jennie Swick, Lisa Warren and Lois Hepburn helped round up performers for us, and Mike Melvin edited the videos together seamlessly. I think we have something really special here.”

On with the Show also provides a fitting tribute to a star recently returned to the heavens — Helen Milligan performs for once more.

“It was very moving to see someone I had so much respect for perform one final time in a Vanity production. Helen was very special to us,” Vanity President Lisa Warren said.

The show features Annee Clark, Kelly Cassady, Matt Day, Jennie and Brian Swick, Ryan Galloway, Alivia Williams, Abigail Eutsler, Elizabeth Hutson, Sammie Amidon, Reagan and Reese Minnette, Bonnie Yund and Keith Strain, Thomas Bowling, Lanie Rogers, Madison Wendelin, Leah Wolf, Emery Jane Allen, Lane Bradley, Kurt and Carol Homan, Stella Snook, Lisa Warren, Megan Birk, Mike and Katie Melvin and Daniel Martin. The production was edited and compiled by Mike Melvin.

This is a Ghostlight Production. Ghostlight Productions was created by the Vanity as a way to keep the shows going during this unprecedented time.

“The community’s support for local theater is always wonderful to see,” Mike Melvin said. “The pay per view system has given us a chance to still reach an audience, and it’s great to see that the theater can still go on.”

On with the Show can be found at the Vanity Theater website at www.sugarcreekplayers.org now through Aug. 16. Streaming the show costs $10, and there is a place for donations.
