Sugar Creek Quilters plan 25th annual bazaar

Posted

Sugar Creek Quilters 25th annual Holiday Bazaar will be held 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the lower level community rooms at the Crawfordsville District Public Library.

Known for fine workmanship, the quilters will offer many quilted gift items for sale at reasonable prices. Shoppers can expect to find handmade wall hangings, table runners, ornaments, purses, quilts and many other holiday/non-holiday items. In addition, baked items may be offered for sale.

Sugar Creek Quilters use the proceeds to fund programs and for charity projects for the community. Quilters have donated quilts to veterans, Marie Canine Cancer Center and Women’s Resource Center.

Anyone interested in joining Sugar Creek Quilters is invited to attend a meeting. Meetings are held in a community room of the Public Library at 6:30 p.m. on the third Monday of each month. Meetings consist of educational programs and a show and tell time when members share their work. Annual dues are $20.

Usually there is a “quilt bee” monthly hosted by various members of the guild, members get together to work on their own projects or a group project while they visit and exchange ideas with each other.

Periodic workshops are offered to help quilters improve their skills. Two retreats are usually held each year. One is a weekend retreat held at the First Christian Church during the fall of the year. Quilters may come and go at their discretion to work on group projects or individual projects. A spring retreat happens at Threads of Time in Danville, Illinois. Participants can stay overnight in the shop’s comfortable facilities, or they may come and go as they please. This retreat is usually scheduled for late March or early April.
