Crawfordsville placed the highest of the three Montgomery County schools in the Sagamore Athletic Conference meet Saturday at Rocky Ridgle Golf Club. The Athenians placed third.
Crawfordsville’s Tanner Gilland shot a 78 which tied match medalist John Sandlin of Tri-West. Sandlin was able to edge Gilland in a playoff for the title.
Other Athenian scores were Caiden Murray 78, Owen Pierce 89, Jude Hurt 98 and Colten Custer 95.
North Montgomery, who won the county championship one week ago, fell short of expectations. Neal Jeffery was the bright spot with a score of 79. Other Charger scores were Beckett Martin 88 , Rohen Barnes 94, Connor Koopman 107 and Kelby Harwood 90.
Southmont finished the day in seventh place. Austin Foley led the Mounties with a score of 86. Other Southmont scores were Carter Ludlow 88, Ethan Hutchison 102, Cole Rhoads 108 and Luc Rabeyrin 105.
The IHSAA Golf sectional at Attica is scheduled for June 6. The Montgomery County meet is May 29 at Crawfordsville Municipal.
