Wabash swept a pair of tennis matches against two in-state Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference members on Saturday. The Little Giants scored a 6-1 win over Anderson in the early session before earning a 6-1 victory over Earlham in the evening. Wabash improved to 5-2 for the spring season.
The Little Giants claimed the doubles point against Anderson (2-5) by sweeping all three matches. Auguston Ghidini and Cole Shifferly combined for a 6-4 victory in the first doubles flight. Rafael Rin and Murilo Guarniari scored a 6-1 win at number two doubles. Ethan Koeneman and Eric Tien won their number three doubles match 6-4.
Shifferly won 6-2, 6-2 in his number one singles match. Rin picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the second singles match. Guarniari claimed a straight-sets win at number three singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-3. Ghidini picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win at number four singles. Christan Zimmerman won the final match for the Little Giants with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at number six singles.
Wabash swept all three doubles matches against Earlham (2-4), starting with a 6-0 win by Ghidini and Shifferly in the first flight. Rin and Guarniari earned a 6-2 win at number two doubles. Vittorio Bona and Koeneman earned a 6-1 win at number three doubles.
Rin played first singles against the Quakers, winning a point with a 6-4, 6-0 decision. Maksymilian Domanski picked up a 6-3, 6-1 victory at number three singles. Bona played at number four singles, claiming a 6-0, 6-0 shutout. Zimmerman won his fifth singles flight by 6-1 and 6-2 scores. Faustino Dimuro finished the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win at number six singles.
Wabash travels to Illinois for matches against Simpson and Principia on Saturday.
