Terrence David Fitzwater, 51, of Lafayette passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, June 19, 2022, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 12, 1970, at Crawfordsville, to David Lee Churchill and Patricia Lee Fitzwater. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School and attended Pikes Peak Community College.

Terrence was a proud U.S. Army veteran and served honorably from 1989 until his honorable discharge in 1991. For the past 28 years, he worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Crawfordsville and Lafayette.

He enjoyed golfing, listening to music, basketball and football; he was the #1 Dallas Cowboy fan. He liked to watch “The Andy Griffith Show” and “Sanford and Son.” He was a kind and loving soul who always had a huge smile on his face and showed love and compassion to everyone he met. He was well known and loved by all who knew him. He truly was a blessing to everyone. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his daughters and his grandchildren. Family meant everything to him.

He is survived by his parents; grandmother Carol Francis; daughters, Kelsey Fitzwater of Lafayette and Kamryn Fitzwater of Indianapolis; sisters, Shanele Reid, Jamese Pasley and Dawn Albright; brother Dherrus Churchill; granddaughters, Zariyah, Namya, Nyla and Givelly; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews whom he loved all very much.

He was preceded in death by grandmother Norma Jean Churchill; grandfather Keith Churchill; uncle Terry Ward; and cousin Brittany Paris.

Memorial contributions in Terrence’s name may be given to: Kamryn, Kelsey and his granddaughters.
