HILLSBORO — The third production in Myers Dinner Theatre’s 25th anniversary season will be the off-Broadway smash hit, The Marvelous Wonderettes, opening at noon April 2, and running through May 2 at 5 p.m. MDT audiences will be transported to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where they will meet the Wonderettes, four girls with dreams as big as their crinoline skirts.

The Marvelous Wonderettes opened Off-Broadway in 2008, at the Westside Theatre in New York.  Since 2008, the show has enjoyed a vibrant life in the Regional Theatre world with its message and music that anyone can relate to.  As we learn about the Wonderettes’ lives and loves, we are treated to the girls performing classic 50’s & 60’s hits such as “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “Stupid Cupid,” “Lipstick on Your Collar,” “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me,” “It’s My Party” and over 20 additional hits. You have never had this much fun at prom, and you will never forget this must-take musical trip down memory lane.

The Marvelous Wonderettes will be directed and choreographed by Sarah Philabaum of Maryland, who has previously directed Mamma Mia! and Little Women, as well as choreographed The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Music direction will be provided by Travis Smith of Ohio, who directed and music directed our outstanding 2019 production of Steeple People and recently appeared as George Hay in Moon Over Buffalo. The production features an all alumni cast with Jennifer Barnaba of Ohio as Suzy, Lauren Morgan of New York as Cindy Lou, Natasha Ricketts of Michigan as Betty Jean and Jocelyn Lonquist of Florida as Missy.
