Thomas Fred Eitnier, 61, of Hillsboro passed away at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his family. He had been ill since June.
Thomas was born July 3, 1959, at Crawfordsville. He was the son of the late Gerald Benjamin and Nellie (Johnson) Eitnier. He was raised in Hillsboro, graduating from Fountain Central High School in 1978. After graduation Thomas entered the U.S. Army. He later transferred to the U.S. Navy and made a career in the Navy. Thomas traveled the world in the military. He loved his family and his beloved dogs.
On Aug. 17, 2011, Thomas married Beth A. Sturgeon in Crawfordsville.
He leaves behind his wife of nine years along with son, Dennis Eitnier, Oxnard, California; step-daughter Megan Kirsch, Avon; brother Jerry (Kathy) Eitnier, Hillsboro; and step-grandson Bryles Kirsch, Avon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-son Brandon Kirsch.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20 until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro. The Rev. Dr. David Inskeep will officiate. Burial with military honors will be held in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro.
