Thomas L. “Tom” DeVault, 74, of the rural Romney/New Richmond community, passed away at 9:51 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2022, at home. He had been in failing health.
Tom was born July 20, 1948, at Lafayette, son of the late James L. and Eleanor Lewis DeVault. He married Sandra P. Johnson July 31, 1969, on the family farm and she preceded him in death Aug. 17, 2022.
Tom was a graduate of Southwestern High School and served with the US Navy. Following his discharge, he returned home and farmed, raising grain and livestock until he retired. He enjoyed restoring and collecting old tractors and taking ‘Gator’ rides around the farm.
Surviving are two sons, Jimmy (Lesa) DeVault and their children Makayla and Austin and Randy DeVault, all of the Romney/New Richmond area. He also is survived by sister-in-law Sandra DeVault.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Carl DeVault.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Gravesides services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Sugar Grove Cemetery, with Pastor Jerry Miller officiating. Military honors will be provided by Crawfordsville American Legion Post 72 Honor Guard.
