Thompson earns first in auto skills contest

For the second year in a row, Parke Heritage High School senior Grant Thompson achieved first place at the Regional Automotive Skills competition put on by Ivy Tech of Terre Haute held April 20. He received a toolbox full of tools and a $1,000 scholarship.

He competed against students from eight other high school automotive programs from surrounding counties. The contest involved a variety of hands-on skills including electrical troubleshooting, precision measurement equipment, automotive brake service, as well as mechanical knowledge written tests.

Grant is enrolled in the Wabash River Career and Technical Education Automotive Technology class that is housed at Parke Heritage High School.
