Timothy James Owens, 66, of Covington passed away peacefully Monday, June 17, 2024, at home, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Born Sept. 27, 1957, at Danville, Illinois, he was the son of Wilmer “Dump” and Bertha Jean Cadman.
Tim married Sandra Purple on Aug. 9, 1986, and she survives. In addition to his beloved wife, Sandy, Tim is survived by his children, Shawn (Brianna) Purple, Amanda (Brandon) Brooks, Lance Owens, Lisa Lacey and Misty; his grandsons, Cameron and Colton Brooks; his granddaughters, Madison Owens, Mariah Owens, Karli Owens, Faith Brooks, Mia Owens, and Aubrey and Makayla Purple; his brothers, Lee (Bobbi) Cadman and Darrell (Darla) Cadman; his sisters, Kay Owens and Brenda Owens; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Kimberly Mckinney; and great-nephew Timothy Darwish.
Tim served in the US Air Force from 1976-1980 as a Material Facilities Specialist. Tim worked at Nucor Steel in Crawfordsville for many years and upon retiring, he started his own gutter and construction business as well as opening Green Devil Tire & Auto. Tim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and above all else spending time with his family and friends. Tim will always be remembered as a man who was quick to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, his playful personality, but most importantly, as a loving husband, dad and papaw.
Per his wishes, cremation rites were accorded. Sunset Funeral Home’s Covington Chapel assisted his family with arrangements.
