TRES offers Warrior Watch program

Posted

Warrior Watch is a pilot program that offers parents a place for their students to go before and after school. In its inaugural year, the Warrior Watch provides child care for Turkey Run Elementary students before and after school.

Students may arrive at 6:45 a.m. The afternoon session is held until 5:15 p.m. The program is available on an “as needed” basis. Some students attend daily while others participate when a child care option is needed for the parents.

During the before and after school sessions, students participate in various learning activities such as coloring, working puzzles, doing crafts, playing games and more. In the afternoon, a homework time is set aside for the students to complete any work they may have. Students are allowed to bring a snack with them to eat during the afternoon session. When the weather is nice, the students have the opportunity to go outside for playtime.

Erica Crane monitors the morning sessions. In the afternoon, the program is rotated between Abby Powell, Lori Bowles, Mindy Earley and Kara Burgess. A minimal fee is charged which is paid to the staff for their monitoring services.

If anyone is interested in his or her child participating in this program, contact Crane at cranee@ncp.k12.in.us.
