Students in Mrs. Maggie Sockwell’s class at Turkey Run Elementary prepared a luncheon for the staff members recently. The meal consisted of chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, rolls and cupcakes. The students have been learning how to measure, how to prepare and how to plan and cook a simple meal. Each student had a chance to help with the different steps of preparing the meal. The class also presented the staff members with a personalized holiday card. Preparing the meal was a way for the students to incorporate the skills that they’ve been learning with a hands-on activity. Helping the students with the meal preparation were Mellissa Giloogly, Heidi Secuskie, Lindsay Garner, Donna Brown and Helen Kiger.
