The Turkey Run Elementary fourth grade classes traveled to Indianapolis to tour the Indiana Statehouse. Upon entering the Statehouse, the students gathered under the beauty of the rotunda with its many stained glass panels on the ceiling. The classes were invited into the governor's office. As a part of their tour, they visited the executive, legislative and judicial branches. The students learned the Statehouse was made of Indiana limestone, marble and granite and took 10 years to build. Students learned that Vincennes and Corydon were the capitals before Indianapolis, and Indiana became our 19th state on Dec. 11, 1816.
