Tri Kappa recognizes area art students

The annual Tri Kappa Art Show, featuring student artwork from Crawfordsville High School, North Montgomery High School and Southmont High School was on display at the Crawfordsville District Public Library from Feb. 8 through March 14. Tri Kappa has sponsored this art show for more than 30 years; and organizers could not do this without the extraordinary art teachers — Ms. Charissa Ajay, Ms. Amanda Ellenberger, CHS; Ms. Autumn Hinders, NMHS; Ms. Sandy Minnick, Ms. Catharine Simmerman, SHS and their students. This year’s judge was Kelly O’Dell Stanley, local artist and author.

Tri Kappa received 230 entries from 177 talented student artists for this exhibit. Cash prizes of $1,530 were awarded to 50 students.

Best of Show prize and Tri Kappa Choice prize were awarded to Zari Freeze for her Drawing I artwork entitled “Dear Sister.” Zari is a senior at Crawfordsville High School.

First place prizes were awarded to Nasyre Byard, Zari Freeze, Mabel Hoar, Alexia Keeling, Kaydence Lewin, Graeme Mason, Sophia Melevage, Cameeron Morgan Adah Westphal Amelia Wilkinson and Lili Yeung.

Second place prizes were awarded to Jayden Conrad, Siddalee Cotton, Brooklyn Crew, Vivian Ewoldt, Frankie Gaston, Chet Kincaid, Grace Klien, Sarah Moore, Eternity Pablo, Ryan Rohr, Lauren Snider and Daniela Velazquez.

Third place prizes were awarded to Chloee Bean, Abigail Coffey, Katie Douglas, Frankie Gaston, Jaycee Gerald, Aiden Hall, Halyn Hall, Judah Hoenshell, Natalie Miller, Olivia Phelps, Natalie Sanders and Lauren Snider.

Honorable mention prizes were awarded to Emily Anderson, Jae Biggs, Jade Brattain, Bianca Montes Diaz, Isabelle Gonzalez, Grace Klien, Hailey Kunz, Shaylee Maly, Eagan McCann, Alley Price, Alejandro Sanchez and Kaylee Turner.
