A veteran of the dog show arena capped off her 4-H career with her fourth straight top honors in dog obedience.
Lauren Tricker, 18, won the grand championship with her 5-year-old border collie, Max.
“He’s very, very sweet,” Tricker said.
She has been practicing with Max since he was a puppy. Tricker said the dog’s best technique is sitting and staying.
Max has an incentive for cooperating in practices. Playtime comes next.
“He probably could play fetch for, like, hours if he was able to,” she said.
Tricker is the daughter of Mike and Kim Tricker and a member of the Clark Hustling Hoosiers 4-H Club.
Her other 4-H projects include swine and photography. A photo of Max is headed to the state fair.
“He gets to go twice,” Tricker said.
