Posted

Southmont High School alum Emily Tricker received her American FFA Degree at the 92nd FFA National Convention this weekend.

The degree is the highest degree in the FFA. Requirements are set forth in the National FFA Constitution. To be eligible, members must receive a State FFA Degree, hold active membership for the past three years, complete secondary instruction in an agricultural education program and operate an outstanding supervised agricultural experience program.

Community service, leadership abilities and outstanding scholastic achievement are also required.

All applications are submitted to the National FFA Organization after approval of a member’s state association. After review by national staff, the National FFA Board of Directors approve qualified candidates to receive the American FFA Degree at the National FFA Convention & Expo.

Swine entrepreneurship was Tricker’s supervised agricultural experience.  She managed a show pig operation, raising and selling show pigs to other 4Hers.

Tricker is a sophomore at Purdue University, where she is double-majoring in agronomy and agricultural education.
