Parke Heritage and Clinton Prairie both won their basketball regional on Saturday to advance to the semi-state. Two wins this Saturday would put both teams into the State Finals.
1A Frankfort Regional
Clinton Prairie survived an overtime classic by beating Lafayette Central Catholic 58-55.
Clinton Prairie, playing in its own county in Frankfort’s Case Arena, trailed at halftime but a strong fourth quarter enabled the Gophers to send the game into overtime.
While in overtime, both teams had slim leads before Clinton Prairie moved ahead with 11 seconds remaining. The Knights’ last shot bounced off the front of the rim as the buzzer sounded.
Clinton Prairie (24-2) will play Triton (22-4) at noon Saturday in Lafayette Jefferson’s Marion Crawley Gymnasium. Kouts (23-4) and Monroe Central (19-6) will play in the first game of the semi-state beginning at 10 a.m. The championship game is scheduled for 8 p.m.
2A Martinsville Regional
Parke Heritage defeated Centerville 47-42 on Saturday at the Martinsville Regional.
The game was close throughout with the Wolves leading 21-18 at halftime and 32-29 going into the final quarter.
Centerville finished its season with a 20-8 record.
Parke Heritage (24-4) will travel to historic Washington High School’s Hatchet House for the 10:30 a.m. semi-state game against Forest Park (19-6).
Linton (21-6) will play University (18-9) at 12:15 p.m. Saturday in the second semi-state game. The championship game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
