Union Township Trustee submits resignation

GOP will conduct caucus June 20 to fill vacancy

The Montgomery County Republican Party will conduct a caucus at 6 p.m. June 20 at the Crawfordsville District Public Library to fill the Union Township Trustee position.

Sally Evans Molin, the current trustee and Republican Party member, has submitted her letter of resignation to the GOP. Montgomery County GOP Chairman Jim Johnson said Molin works full-time for a local financial services company, and policy changes within that business will prevent her from carrying out her elected duties as township trustee.

Trustees are elected people in each township who manage township property interests, keep township records, administer poor relief, provide and maintain cemeteries, provide fire protection and more.

Johnson said anyone interested in filling the vacancy must reside in Union Township. Interested people should email Johnson at jimjohnson.mc54@gmail.com for more information and to receive the necessary paperwork to be considered as a candidate.

The deadline to file for the office is 72 hours prior to the scheduled caucus.

Union Township includes 17 precincts. The vacancy will be filled based on a vote from the 17 precinct committeemen or their proxies.

Molin’s last day will be June 30.
