Unite C'ville offers youth conference

For many students in Montgomery County, summer plans have changed. Conferences, camps and other events have largely been canceled.

With that in mind, local community group known as Unite C’ville is partnering with Christ in Youth to offer a free three-day conference in Crawfordsville for junior and senior high students.

The event will take place July 5-7 at New Hope Christian Church, 2746 S. U.S. 231, Crawfordsville. It is scheduled for 6-8:30 p.m. each night, in addition to 1-4 p.m. July 7 and July 8. All youth groups and students in the community are invited. If participants can’t make all three days, they are welcome to come to any of the time slots available.

Daron Earlewine, an Indianapolis radio host and pastor, will be the guest speaker. Prodigal Worship Band will lead the music and the CIY organization has provided many videos and resources to Unite C’ville for use at the conference.

“For students who have been to a CIY before, it’s going to feel very much like the real thing,” said a Unite C’ville spokesperson. “We want students to know summer isn’t completely canceled. We are working hard to make this a fun, safe and impactful few days.”

Some local vendors will be available at the conference, including Hoosier Ice Queen, Kona Ice and Dari-Licious. Students will get to enjoy free Dari-Licious (with their CIY wristbands) on July 6 and July 7.

In addition to the evening sessions, participants will take part in a “Walk for Water” event on the final day of the conference. They will walk four miles, raising money and awareness for the water crisis in Africa. Follow Unite C’ville on social media to find the links with that information.

Unite C’ville has been sponsoring community events for the last five years. Many events have had hundreds of students in attendance. This is the first time the group has put on a conference.
