Local businesses and organizations are preparing for outdoor events as warmer weather draws closer.
On Wednesday, members of the Board of Public Works and Safety received multiple requests for street closures to accommodate the local events. The board approved a request from Shop Small Shop Handmade to close North Green Street from the alley north toward Market Street on March 15 for a Spring Open House. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The board also approved a request from Crawfordsville Main Street to close Pike Street and Pike Place for this year’s First Friday concert series. Concerts will be held in the evening on June 6, Aug. 1 and Sept. 1.
The board also approved the use of Canine Plaza at the corner of East Main and Green streest for Lunch on the Plaza series. Entertainment will be perfomred and lunch will be served there June 20, July 18 and Aug. 15.
In other business, the board:
• Renewed an agreement between the city and HWC Engineering. The agreement is the standard contract the city has had for the city engineering, no policy or pay rate changes, it just hasn’t been renewed since 2012.
• Renewed a software agreement between the city and TreeKeeper. The software program helps keep track of where trees are located throughout the city. The Crawfordsville Street Department utilizes the software to monitor right of ways. The agreement was for $2,500.
