VB Roundup: Athenians wrap up SAC play while Mounties drop tough match

Crawfordsville makes quick work of Hot Dogs in SAC finale

Wrapping up Sagamore Conference play on Tuesday, Crawfordsville volleyball made the trek to Frankfort for a battle with the Hot Dogs. CHS made quick work of their SAC rival with a 3-0 sweep (25-20, 25-13, 25-8).

Macy Bruton had 23 kills and 12 digs in the win. Devan Johnson added 11 kills with Hallie Gayler notching five kills and three blocks. Halle Elliot nothced 14 digs and added a pair of aces while Jessica Tribble tallied 33 assists and two aces. Elyse Widmer rounded out the stat sheet for CHS with six digs.

The Athenians improve to 21-8 with the victory and will close out the regular season on Thursday for senior night where they will honor Bruton, Elliot, Gayler, Widmer, Mills, and Tribble before the game.

Mounties fall in four to Patriots

Southmont made the trip to Seeger on Tuesday as they wrapped up their last regular season best of five match against the Patriots. After a thrilling back and forth opening set which saw the Mounties come out on top 27-25, Seeger then rallied to take the next three sets as South fell 27-25, 17-25, 14-25, 26-28.

Chelsea Veatch led the Mounties with 13 kills in the loss. Regan Remley and Dara Watson both added 10 of their own. Cheyenee Shaw also added in six. Mallory Mason had a great game serving for the Mounties as she tallied seven aces. Veatch and Mason both also 20+ digs as Mason led the way with 21 and Veatch ended with 20. Tayler Anderson had 14 while Remley ended her night with 12. Mason also added 36 assists.

The loss for the Mounties sees their record fall to 11-11 on the season. They’ll conclude the regular season on Saturday when they make the short trip to compete in the North Montgomery Invite.
