Violet May Shahan, 87, of Crawfordsville passed away Nov. 6, 2020, at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville.

Violet was born June 27, 1933, to Edward and Mary (Largent) Shahan. She was the oldest of four and is survived by sisters, Delores Bastion of Crawfordsville and Mary F. Stonebraker of Darlington. Vi was the most wonderful aunt to 11 nieces and nephews and many, many great and great-great nieces and nephews, all of whom loved her very much. She was also a caregiver to many children throughout her life.

Vi was known to be quite the card player, with Canasta and Tripoli being among her favorites, as well as enjoying bingo — and at all of them, she was exceedingly lucky. She could whip up a batch of fudge that was so good and sweet, your teeth would ache.  She also had the most generous heart and was always willing to share whatever she had.

She was a member at Friendship Baptist Church, a life-long Christian, and there is no doubt that Vi is now at peace with the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Edward “Butch” Shahan, and niece Debra K. Stonebraker.

Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10 at Hunt & Son Funeral Home, Crawfordsville, with the funeral service immediately following at 2 p.m. Pastor Chris Hortin will officiate. Burial will follow the funeral service at Oak Hill Cemetery.  All are requested to follow COVID-19 social distancing guidelines and masks are required.
