There was a steady stream of voters for the 2024 General Election on Tuesday.

The Montgomery County Fairgrounds had a consistently full line, even midday.

Wabash College students took part in this year’s election by arranging stations outside of three of the county’s four vote centers, 4-H fairgrounds, Rock Point Church and North Montgomery High School. Students asked voters to complete a 20-question exit poll.

The purpose of the survey was to better understand the communities that the college is a part of and the voting habits of the people in the community in order to better connect with those communities. The exit poll is part of a research grant, “Strengthening Campus & Community Election Engagement” from the Community-Engaged Alliance.

Some of the questions on the survey addressed policy issues relating to immigration, abortion and firearms. Other questions asked voters what their political affiliation was and who they voted for. Voters who agreed to participate in the exit poll remained anonymous.

Students will present their findings at a lunchtime event Nov. 15 in Baxter Hall on the Wabash College campus.
