TERRE HAUTE — The Wabash track and field team competed at the Indiana State University Gibson Family Invitational in Terre Haute, Indiana, on Saturday. The field comprised NCAA Division I, II, and III programs, which made for a competitive meet.
Lane Brockman scored the highest finish for the Little Giants in the hammer throw, setting a new personal best of 50.03 meters (164 feet, 1 inch). The junior secured sixth place in the event and broke the 50-meter barrier for the first time in his career.
Sophomore Owen Smith achieved a new lifetime best in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in a time of 56.69 to claim 16th.
Evan Furuness picked up a 15th-place finish in the shot put with a launch of 13.05 meters (42 feet, 9.75 inches), a season’s best mark for the junior.
Sophomore Angel Perez also attained a season’s best in the 1,500-meter run, crossing the line in 4:10.16 to take 39th place.
Junior Christopher Royal made his collegiate debut in the 100-meter dash, grabbing 53rd place in 11.75.
Wabash returns to Terre Haute on April 26 for the Indiana State University Open.
