MEDINA, Ohio — Wabash won seven of its nine tennis matches against the College of Wooster Saturday to earn a 6-1 victory over the Fighting Scots in a North Coast Athletic Conference tennis match to finish the weekend 2-0 in conference play.
Wabash (11-7, 2-2 NCAC) won the doubles point with wins in the first and third flights. Augusto Ghidini and Rafael Rin combined to win 6-1 at number one doubles. Tharakesh Ashokar and Maksymilian Domanski earned a 6-1 victory in the third flight to secure the team point.
Rin rallied from a first-set loss to earn a point with a victory at number one singles, winning 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. Murilo Guarniari earned a 7-6 (1), 6-1 win at number three singles. Ghidini picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the fourth singles flight.
Domanski earned a three-set victory at number five singles with scores of 2-6, 6-2, and 6-3. Vitorio Bona scored a 6-4, 6-1 win at number six singles.
Wabash returns to action on Wednesday with a home match against DePauw University at 5 p.m.
Tennis rallies for NCAC win At Oberlin
OBERLIN, Ohio — The Wabash College tennis team rallied after losing the team point in doubles action to claim a 5-2 victory over Oberlin College in a North Coast Athletic Conference competition Friday.
Wabash (10-7, 1-2 NCAC) won five singles matches, starting with a straight-set victory at number four singles, with Augusto Ghidini winning 6-2,7-6 (9-7). Rafael Rin won at number two singles by scores of 7-6 (7-3) and 7-6 (11-9). Tharakesh Ashokar won in three sets at number three singles after losing the opening set 3-6. He rallied for wins of 6-4 and 7-5 to claim the team point for the Little Giants.
Maksymilian Domanski won 7-5, 6-4 at number five singles to secure the victory for Wabash. Vittorio Bona added a fifth victory in the sixth singles match with scores of 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).
