Gilliam named NCAC Men’s Athlete of the Week
Wabash freshman Mason Gilliam earned North Coast Athletic Conference Men’s Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week honors for his performance at Saturday’s dual meet between the Little Giants and Indiana University Indianapolis.
Gilliam shattered the school record in the 1,000 free, touching the wall for the final time in 9:29.98 to eclipse the old mark of 9:34.08 turned in by Chris Dombrowski in 2018. Gilliam’s time earned him a third-place finish in the event in the competition at NCAA Division I IU Indy.
Wabash named CSCAA Fall Scholar All-America Team
The 2024-2025 Wabash College swimming and diving team was recognized by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America as one of 781 men’s and women’s programs to earn Fall Scholar All-America Team honors from the organization.
The 35 members of head coach Will Bernhardt’s squad produced a 3.45 team grade point average for the 2024 fall semester. Wabash qualifies for the Intercollegiate Coach Association Coalition All-Sport Academic Standings as one of 654 programs with a GPA of 3.30 or higher.
Samantha Barany, Executive Director of the CSCAA, commented on the impressive accomplishments of the 781 programs earning Scholar All-America Team honors, saying, “The commitment to academic excellence demonstrated by these teams is truly admirable. It is inspiring to see student-athletes excel both in the pool and in the classroom. The CSCAA takes great pride in honoring and celebrating their dedication and achievements.”

Shifferly named NCAC Athlete of the Week
Wabash College junior Cole Shifferly earned North Coast Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honors for his performance in the Little Giants’ opening weekend of the 2025 spring tennis season.
Shifferly earned two victories at number-one singles Saturday to help the Wabash College tennis team finish 1-1 overall in matches against Illinois Wesleyan and Cedarville. Shifferly scored a straight-sets win in the morning match against Illinois Wesleyan, earning a 6-4, 6-0 victory to help the Little Giants claim a 6-1 victory over the visiting Titans. Schifferly won a three-set contest in the nightcap against Cedarville with a 5-7, 6-2, 10-6 win at number-one singles. Wabash lost in a tiebreaker in the final match for a 4-3 final against the Yellow Jackets.

Thang named MCVL Offensive Player of the Week
Wabash College sophomore outside hitter Bawibawi Thang was voted as the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League’s Offensive Player of the Week by the head coaches.
Thang averaged 6.33 kills per set with a .426 attack percentage to lead Wabash to three victories Friday and Saturday, pacing the Little Giants to their best start in program history. Friday evening, Thang produced 21 kills in a 3-0 victory at Central State, coming one kill shy of tying his own school record for kills in a three-set match. He had an attack percentage of .474 with an 80 percent serving percentage in the victory.
Saturday, Thang broke the Wabash record for kills in a five-set match by recording 33 with a .404 attack percentage in a 3-2 win over the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The sophomore outside hitter posted a .852 serve percentage with two aces against the Pointers. Thang followed that performance with a 22-kill effort with a .415 attack percentage in a 3-1 win over Greenville to close Saturday’s competition.

Red Pack earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Honors
The 2024 Wabash College cross country received All-Academic Team honors from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The Little Giants received the honor after producing a cumulative 3.45 grade point average as a team through the 2024 fall semester. Teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 or higher on a 4.0 scale to be recognized as an All-Academic Team by the USTFCCCA.
