Six Wabash College wrestlers advanced to Saturday’s second day of competition at the 2025 NCAA Division III Region V Championship Tournament hosted by the Little Giants in the Knnowling Fieldhouse.
Daniel Uribe, Mawuli Nevis, Chase Baczek, and Titus Waters will all compete in Saturday’s championship semifinal round after each posted 2-0 records on Friday. Uribe pinned his first-round opponent at 149 pounds and earned a 17-2 tech fall in the quarterfinal round to advance to the semifinals. Nevis started the day with an 18-0 tech fall in the first round of the 165-pound bracket before advancing to Saturday’s semifinals with an 11-4 decision in the quarterfinals.
Baczek earned a tech fall with a 15-0 score in the first round of the 197-pound bracket. He followed with an 11-3 major decision in the quarterfinals to advance to the semis. Waters picked up two pins in his two 285-pound matches on Friday, both coming in the first period.
James Day and Ayden Lutes posted 2-1 records and will compete in the consolation bracket with chances to earn third-place finishes and berths to the 2025 NCAA DIII National Championship Tournament. Day won his opening match at 133 pounds with a pin and rallied for a 5-4 decision in the second round of the consolation bracket after a 9-7 loss in the quarterfinals. Lutes lost his opening bout at 157 pounds before scoring back-to-back victories with a 9-6 decision in the consolation first round and a 10-5 victory in the second round.
