Walt Stephens of Crawfordsville passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 5, 2020, at home, after a lengthy illness and with family by his side. He was 84.
Walt worked at R R Donnelley for 32 years. He was a member of the Donnelley Club, Masonic Lodge and Moose Lodge #6. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. He previously attended New Hope Christian Church. He was a huge IU fan and also enjoyed birds and birdwatching.
Born Aug. 13, 1936, at Sheridan, Indiana, he was the son of Samuel Stephens and Mary Josephine Williams Stephens. He graduated from Sheridan High School. He married Lureaine Greer on Jan. 1, 1956. She survives.
Surviving family includes: wife Lureaine Stephens of Crawfordsville; three daughters, Lorena (Jim) Elmore of Carmel and Diana Stephens and Susan Stephens, both of Crawfordsville; two sons, Mike Stephens of Crawfordsville and Sam Stephens of Lafayette; three grandsons, Lee (Kim), Patrick (Erin) and Shane; and four great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9 at Burkhart Funeral Home. Services will begin at 5 p.m., led by Pastor Mike Whitacre. A private burial will take place at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery.
