Water Street to close for main water valve replacement project

Water Street near the Ben Hur Building will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 15 as approved at Wednesday’s Crawfordsville Board of Works meeting.

Price Excavating plans to replace a main water valve. Brian Keim, representing Price Excavating, said the work should be completed in one day.

Crawfordsville Electric Power and Light received approval on two streetlight projects.

A total of 19 streetlights inside the Diamond Ridge Addition will be added to the CEL&P inventory.

The board also approved installing eight streetlights at the new Hawkview/Arbor Homes Addition as a part of phase 1 which inlcudes constructing 75 homes in the area.

The board also gave approval to the city’s street department to surplus a 1994 GMC Topkick trash truck. Street Department Superintendent Mark Cox told the board the truck was inoperable he has plans to sell the truck for scrap.
