Wayne A. Nevitt of Crawfordsville passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at home. He was 55.
Wayne was a specialized electrician and IT worker with IBEW 481 and IBEW 26. He previously served on the city council and was a board member in Wayne Township. He attended Calvary Baptist Church. He liked to read history, play cards, watch sports and enjoyed live music. Most of all, he loved his children, family, friends and his dog, Ike.
Born May 7, 1964, at Crawfordsville, he was the son of Don Owen Nevitt and Carolyn Jo Hillenburg Nevitt. He graduated from Linden Christian Academy in 1981. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Wabash in 1985 and bachelor’s in supervision from Purdue, later taking classes at Ivy Tech, specializing in electronics.
Surviving family includes: his former spouse, long-time friend and companion, Glenna McKee Nevitt; daughter Olivia Nevitt; two sons, Mahlon Nevitt and Henry Nevitt; mother Carolyn Nevitt; two brothers, Jay Nevitt and Dan Nevitt (Carrie); five nephews, Tyler, Dylan (Stephanie), Dalton (Peyton), Dayton and Dawson Nevitt; niece Jayde Nevitt; great-nephew Wyatt; three cousins; and his aunt and uncle, Linda and Larry Reynolds.
He was preceded in death by father Don Nevitt; paternal grandparents, Vernon Nevitt and Bea Nevitt Yousko; and maternal grandparents, Carrell and Edith Hillenburg.
Private graveside services will be held Saturday at Farmer’s Institute Cemetery in Tippecanoe County. Burkhart Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
