Waynetown church to serve holiday meal

WAYNETOWN — For the 17th year, members of the Waynetown Christian Church are inviting people to a traditional Thanksgiving meal from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. The goal is simple, to make certain everyone has an opportunity to be with others and share a good meal on the holiday.

“We just want families and individuals to have a place to go on Thanksgiving so they aren’t alone,” church member Linda Ballard said. “We want people to come be with us and enjoy a good traditional Thanksgiving meal.”

Volunteers will prepare and serve turkey, mashed potatoes, noodles, dressing, green beans, corn casserole and rolls. There will also be homemade pies for dessert.

Organizers expect to serve from 350 to 400 free meals.

Volunteers from the church and community help with the meal by providing food,
cooking and serving.

Deliveries are available for those who cannot make it to the church located at 101 W. Walnut St. Ballard asks those wanting a meal delivered to call the church at 765-234-2554 before 10 a.m. Thursday if possible. The church asks those calling to leave their name, phone number and address if there is no answer.
