Waynetown Oktoberfest set for Saturday

WAYNETOWN — Waynetown is ready to celebrate the fall season Saturday at the annual Oktoberfest. The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Rev. Guy Tremaine Park.

New activities have been added to the schedule including a Kid Zone and a pumpkin chunking catapult.

The Kid Zone will be open
11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include a petting zoo, duck pond, shoot the pumpkin, face painting, a balloon artist and hay ride. 

At 1:30 p.m. children are invited to participate in the Blue Gives Back sponsored hay stack money grab. Children will be divided into three age group: 3-5, 6-8 and 9-11 years-old. There will be a total of $100 hidden for each age group.

The pumpkin chucker, which was constructed by Kyle Proctor, Christian Brown and Bob Heisel, will start tossing pumpkins around 2 p.m.

Food will be available beginning at 11 a.m. The menu consists of grilled brats and hot dogs, goulash, sausage pretzel bites, pretzels and cheese, homemade streusel, freshly squeezed apple cider, pumpkin rolls and a variety of drinks.

A beer garden with a full bar will be open 2-8 p.m.

Live entertainment on the Freedom Stage begins at 2:30 p.m. with Eric Barr and Jammers. City Lites will perform 5:30-8 p.m.

Sponsors for the Oktoberfest include Waynetown Merchants Association, Fountain Trust, York Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram-FIAT, Dutcher Trenching and Schenck Pumpkin Farm.
