Waynetown Oktoberfest set for Saturday

WAYNETOWN — A bit of Germany will be celebrated in Waynetown from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. German food, live music and activities will highlight the annual Oktoberfest celebratoin.

This year’s menu features German goulash made over an open fire at the event. Bratwurst sandwiches, fried bologna sandwiches, fried potatoes, hot dogs, pretzels, sausage bites, homemade apple strudel and pumpkin rolls will be available.

A coffee bar with several types of specialty coffees, teas lemonade and smoothies will open at 11 a.m.

Phil Pirtle will make freshly squeezed warm apple cider throughout the day.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. children can enjoy a petting zoo, pumpkin launch, pumpkin shoot. Polka Pop Balloon Stop will be making balloon figures from 1-3 p.m.

Live entertainment is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. when Lief and Josie Murray take the stage offering accordion and fiddle music. City Lites Band will play from 5-8 p.m.

A full bar beer garden will open at 3 p.m. and will feature beer and mixed drinks.

Fire pits will be on-site.

There is no admission charge to attend the festival.

The event is the fourth of  five festivals the town hosts throughout the year.

Oktoberfest takes place at the Rev. Guy Tremaine Park located at 1 Harrington Drive and is sponsored by the Waynetown Merchants Association, Fountain Trust Co. and York Automotive Group.
