‘We Love C’ville Day’ returning for third year

A local church’s “We Love C’ville Day” event is returning for a third year to provide families with groceries and a chance to win giveaways.

The free community event, which is hosted by Crosspoint Fellowship, is set for 1 to
3 p.m. Saturday at the Montgomery County 4-H Fairgrounds.

The first 100 families will receive a box of groceries. The church has partnered with FISH Food Pantry and Midwest Food Bank to provide the food. Hot dogs, chips and bottled water will also be served.

Each person will be entered into a raffle for bill pay, TVs, tablets and other giveaways. A kids zone will feature a Crawfordsville Fire Department truck, inflatables, pony rides and face painting.

Area community groups such as Benchmark Family Services, Pam’s Promise Transitional Housing, Gideons and Central Indiana Teen Challenge, a faith-based residential care program in Lebanon, will also be on hand to provide information.

Organizers expect between 800-1,000 people to attend and COVID-19 protocols will be followed, said Crosspoint Pastor Chris Cregger.

The event aims to bring love and hope to the community, Cregger said. “Our church has just embraced that to the fullest,” he added.

Last year, the church distributed 26,000 pounds of dairy products at the event, which was reorganized as a drive-thru giveaway due to the pandemic.
