Wheeler marks 25 years at Lakeside Book Co.

Posted

Lakeside Book Company is proud to announce that Dan Wheeler is celebrating a milestone — 25 years of dedicated service to the company and its predecessors. His journey in the world of training and development has been one of growth, leadership, and a legacy of lasting relationships.

Wheeler’s professional career began with several years supporting on-site global operations and technical training at Alcoa CSI. In 2000, he made his way back to Crawfordsville, where he joined RR Donnelley as the training coordinator for the Crawfordsville plants. This role led him to a position within the corporate Continuous Improvement organization, where he traveled extensively, providing and supporting operations and leadership development programs.

Over time, Wheeler was promoted to manage operations training programs and staff for RR Donnelley. He continued in this capacity as the company transitioned into LSC Communications. After successfully navigating that transition, Dan spent some time offering consulting services in Rochester, New York. However, the call to return to Crawfordsville brought him back home to Lakeside Book Company, where he now leads all new hire and apprentice training programs. After years of life on the road, he is grateful for the opportunity to settle back into a fulfilling local role.

Wheeler’s proudest career achievement is the long-lasting relationships he has built with people from all walks of life across the globe — from entry-level staff to executives. He especially treasures his mentorships with individuals like Jim C., Tim G., Nancy A., Chip B., Ed S. and Tom C.

Wheeler is the son of Bob and Maxine Wheeler of Browns Valley. His father, Bob, spent more than 40 years at RR Donnelley. Wheeler and his wife, Kimm Thompson Wheeler, are the parents of two sons, Chance (Kaitlin) and Elijah (Morgan). He also cherishes time with his 12-year-old grandson, Grayson, and his 1-year-old grandson, Oliver.

When not working, he enjoys live music, summer nights, spending time with family and friends and traveling the world.
