Whitson Riley Crosby, 68, of Ladoga passed away at home Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022, after a brief battle with Glioblastoma.

Whitson was born May 30, 1954, at Crawfordsville, to Samuel and Anna (Bishop) Crosby of Roachdale. He attended Roachdale schools and graduated from North Putnam High School in 1972. On June 26, 1972, he married Carol Sue (Morrison) of Ladoga.

Whitson drove semi-trucks for most of his life, driving for Coast to Coast Hardware in the early years. In 1992, he began driving for Walmart Stores, Inc. where he stayed until his retirement in 2018. During his time with Walmart, he taught numerous safety classes for driver education at local schools. He also obtained the Master Truck Driver Award from the state of Indiana before his retirement and accumulated nearly three million safe driving miles. In his retirement, Whitson enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, attending NASCAR races, tending to his farm, and taking his beloved dog Mollie to get ice cream.

He leaves behind, his wife of 50 years, Carol; three children, Jennifer (Lee) Johnson of Spring Hill, Florida, Jason (Renee) Crosby of Ladoga and James Matthew Crosby (Amethyst) of Ladoga; sister Mary Ann Kellogg of Indianapolis; brother Wassell (Roberta) Crosby of Roachdale; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Son Chadwicke Riley preceded him in death as well as his parents, Samuel and Anna.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 at Servies & Morgan Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington St., Ladoga, with Craig Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in Roachdale Cemetery. Friends are invited for a time of visitation with the family on Friday, Oct. 28 at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Whitson requested that donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
