XC runners compete on Saturday

Crawfordsville, Fountain Central, and North Montgomery cross country teams were all in action on Saturday.

Led by freshman Sophia Melevage’s 10th-place finish out of 190 runners in a time of 19:23 — Crawfordsville’s girls placed 13th with 403 points at the Harrison Invite at the Tippecanoe Amphitheater.

Shelby Green placed 85th in 22:01, while Elyse Widmer was 89th in 22:08 and Olivia Biddle 106th in 22:42. Karla Fernandez placed 135th in 23:24, Skylah Strawser 150th in 24:06 and Gabby Warren 156th in 24:34.

Fountain Central freshman Brailey Hoagland placed 51st in 20:53, while Hadlee McBride was 133rd in 23:22, Alydia Mellady 161st in 25:12 and Madisyn Morgan 188th in 29:08.

Crawfordsville’s boys’ placed  16th with 438 points. Ryan Miller led the Athenians with a 28th-place finish in 17:01, while Max Brumett was 96th in 18:33 and Hutton Haas 97th in 18:35. Tyson Fuller placed 103rd in 18:44 and Roman Contreras 133rd in 19:49. Peter Kearns was 143rd in 20:26. Ian Hensley placed 153rd in 20:57.

Fountain Central’s Hayden Kler placed 80th in 18:08, while Nathan Solomon was 137th in 20:03. Carson Maddox was 180th in 36:46.

At the State Preview meet in Terre Haute, North Montgomery senior Claire Bonwell placed 29th in the girls’ 1A-3A race with a time of 24:22. On the boys’ side, Elijah McCartney led the Chargers with a seventh-place finish in 18:06, while Tim Lueking was 16th in 18:59 and Paul Lueking 22nd in 19:24. Jack Rogers placed 65th in 22:30.

Mounties fall to Stars

The Southmont volleyball team dropped a Sagamore Conference match 3-0 (25-9, 25-7, 25-5) to Western Boone on Saturday.
