YAR gives grant to North FFA

Posted

Youth as Resources, a program of the Montgomery County Youth Service Bureau, is following their motto of “Giving, Serving, Leading,” and have once again awarded a $500 grant to North Montgomery’s FFA chapter. The grant is to fund a project where 50-60 students will make more than 70 medium sized fleece blankets for children at Riley Hospital. The FFA chapter plans to bring five to six other student groups at North Montgomery into the project by having them assist with making the blankets, and having fun while doing so. Their hope is that they will get this project done in the course of an hour and a half one evening, after school.

YAR challenges and empowers youth to identify community needs and design projects that use their skills, creativity and energy to help others. They do this by providing financial resources to enable youth to meet these needs.

YAR meets once a month to screen grant recipients, plan and implement service projects and fundraisers, and most importantly ... have fun. The youth do various service projects such as Habitat for Humanity volunteer day, helping at the Strawberry Festival and more.
