Fundraisers

YSB planning new events

Due to the cancelation of Dancing with the Stars again this year, the Youth Service Bureau has two new fundraisers they want to announce to the community.

“DWTS is so large and the dancers have to work in such close proximity, we feel it would be unsafe for us to move forward with this event,” said Karen Branch, executive director for the YSB. “We spent a great deal of time discussing this but felt we should err on the side of caution and safety for our dancers and community.”

Dancing with the Montgomery County Stars is the largest fundraiser for the Montgomery County Youth Service Bureau.

“Although this is a huge loss to us financially, we are moving forward with other fundraising events that we hope will provide the same level of support but be safe for individuals and the community,” Branch said.

The first new fundraising event will be the Connecting with Youth Telethon scheduled for noon to 2 p.m. May 22.

“We are so excited that Crawfordsville Radio’s True Country 106.3 WCDQ, is the Title Sponsor and partner for the event,” Branch said. “The event will be broadcast live on 106.3 with a simultaneous Facebook Live event. Much like the old Jerry Lewis Telethon, we will be highlighting youth talent, hearing from YSB volunteers and youth members and informing the community about all of our programs. We hope to have people not only listen, but participate by supporting the YSB.”

There will be two ways that people will be able to give. They can call the YSB at 765-362-0694 and make a donation or pledge; and a text to donate platform, where they text CONNECTYSB to 44321. They will then receive a link to make their donation.

“We are also excited to announce, thanks to a generous anonymous donor through the Montgomery County Community Foundation, we have received a matching gift,” she said. “Beginning now and through the event, every donation will be matched, $2 for every $1 donated. So a $25 donation becomes a $75 donation and a $500 donation becomes a $1,500 donation. The donor has provided a match of up to $20,000.”

Three other sponsors have already agreed to partner with the Connecting with Youth Telethon. Joshi Pediatrics is the Diamond Sponsor for the event and Tri-County Bank and Edge IT are the Facebook Live Sponsors. There are other sponsorship opportunities available and anyone interested can contact Branch at 765-362-0694, ext. 105 or email at admin@mcysb.org.

The second event will be a golf tournament in August. More details and sponsorship opportunities will be available soon.
