Thrill of the Hunt

New flea market event planned

VEEDERSBURG — If you love the thrill of the hunt, you’ll want to mark your calendar for Saturday. That’s the first date of a new event in West Central Indiana — the Fountain County Flea.

The Flea is owned by Scott and Holly Snelling of Veedersburg. They also own Hobnob Market — a pop-up vintage and handmade market event.

The Snellings grew up going to flea markets along U.S. 41 and remember loving the sense of adventure and discovery they felt while shopping those events. They were nostalgic for the fun flea markets they loved as kids and decided to bring that experience back to Fountain County.

Vintage and antique finds of all kinds, local and handmade goods, home decor mixed with vintage, bakery treats & small batch foods, along with farmers market style fresh flowers & produce in season.

Regular shopping will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fountain County Fairgrounds, just west of Veedersburg on U.S. 136. Early bird shopping is 6-9 a.m.

Additional events will be held May 4, June 1, Sept. 7 plus a special three-day Flea during the first weekend of the Covered Bridge Festival on Oct. 10-12.

Admission is $5 per person at the gate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Early bird shopping is $10 per person beginning at 6 a.m. for first picks from unloading vendors.

Children ages 16 and younger are admitted free. Food will be available for purchase. This is an indoor/outdoor event and will go on rain or shine. Parking is ample and free on the grounds.
