Mounties begin season with dominating win
Southmont wrestling opened their 2023-24 season at home on Tuesday when they hosted the Covington Trojans inside Bob Tandy Gymnasium. It proved to be a very successful start to the season for a Mountie team that always has high goals and expectations. They defeated Covington 72-3.
Picking up wins for Southmont were Brier Riggle (120), Thomas Woods (126), Jeffrey Pine (132), Maddox Cade (138), Hunter Alesi (144), Marlin Williams (150), Tyler Davis (190), Wyatt Woodall (215), and Ayden Dickerson (285). Cooper Scott (106), Paxton Gentry (165), and Max Musick (175) all received wins via forfeit.
The Mounties begin the season at 1-0 and will travel to compete in the WeBo Duals on Saturday.
Chargers pick up senior night win over Patriots
North Montgomery wrestling honored its seniors on Tuesday when the Chargers hosted the Seeger Patriots. It proved to be a happy senior night for the Chargers as they took down Seeger 43-25 win. The Chargers with the win will now get ready to compete in the WeBo Duals on Saturday.

Athenians begin season with sweep of Stars
Another season of Crawfordsville swimming got underway on Tuesday when CHS traveled to WeBo for their season opener for both the boys and girls. The Athenians on the night walked away with sweep as the girls defeated the Stars 120-62 while the boys were 113-66 winners. 41% of all of the swims and dives on the night for CHS were life time bests. Cville begins the dual meet season 1-0 on both sides and will have its home opener on Thursday when they host the Seeger Patriots.
Chargers sweep Hot Dogs
North Montgomery hosted Sagamore Conference foe Frankfort on Tuesday and the Chargers came away with a sweep of the Hot Dogs. The girls stayed un-defeated on the season with a 141-42 win while boys picked up their first win 91-67.
Annabel Anderson, Brooklyn Kearns, Dusty Robinson, and Kylie Sankey all brought home wins for the girls while Sam Sheetz and Jack Rogers highlighted the performances for the Charger boys.
The Chargers will travel to two more SAC rivals on Thursday when they take on both Tri-West and WeBo. Armstrong breaks FC diving record again
Mustangs and Armstrong continue strong start
Fountain Central freshman William Armstrong continues to break records just two meets into his high school career. Tuesday FC took on Benton Central and the Mustangs came away with a sweep with the girls winning 106-68 and the boys 87-37. Armstrong scored a 281.1 in his six dives which broke his own record he set last week.
FC will be back in the pool next Thursday when they host Seeger.

Mustangs notch road win over Oracles
Fountain Central girls basketball’s impressive season keeps marching right along. Tuesday the Mustangs hit the road for a contest at Delphi. After a first half which saw FC trail 29-24 at halftime, the Mustangs relied on their defense and held the Oracles to 15 second half points on their way to a 54-44 win. An 18-6 third quarter was the difference for the Mustangs.
Freshman Henley Good led FC with 19 points with Hannah Prickett scoring 11. Kacey Kirkpatrick scored eight with Rylee Simko adding six. Brailey Hoagland had eight steals defensively.
FC with the win improves to 9-2 as their winning streak has reached five in a row. The Mustangs are off until next Tuesday when they travel to take on Seeger.
Chargers fall to Eagles at home
North Montgomery girls basketball hosted Faith Christian on Tuesday and fell by a final score of 52-27. The Chargers fall to 4-5 with the loss and travel to Covington on Thursday.
