Chargers get road win over Trojans

North Montgomery girls basketball hit the road for Thursday for a game against the Covington Trojans and played some of its best basketball of the season. The Chargers walked away with a 53-44 win as they pulled away in the second half. After the first 16 minutes of the game the score was all tied at 23-23, but some halftime adjustments allowed the Chargers to come away with the win.

Macee Norman led the Chargers with 19 points in the victory. Piper Ramey scored 14, Blair Nichols added seven as did Caelyn Carpenter. Mady Holt chipped in three with Krestyn Bradford adding in two.

The win for the Chargers sees their record improve to 5-5 on the season. They’ll be back in action at home on Tuesday for a Sagamore Conference matchup with Tri-West.

Swimming

Chargers girls continue perfect season

North Montgomery girls swimming is looking to put together a special season. While it’s still early in the year, the Chargers are impressing many and that continued Thursday night. Both Charger teams traveled to Tri-West for a three-team meet with the Bruins and Western Boone. The Charger girls with already a few wins over Sagamore Conference foes added two more as they swept both the Bruins and the Stars. They bested WeBo 89-83 and Tri-West 113-56 to improve their record to 6-0 on the season.

The Charger boys were swept by both teams losing to the Stars 100-64 and the Bruins 110-50.

Both Charger teams return to the pool on Tuesday for meet with Benton Central.

Athenians sweep Patriots

Crawfordsville boys and girls swimming had their home opener on Thursday when they hosted the Seeger Patriots. Both teams ended up coming away with wins as the boys took care of business 122-50 while the girls were also winners 136-40.

Both Cville teams will now travel to compete in the Pike Invitational on Saturday.
