Crawfordsville gets SAC play started
The Crawfordsville girls tennis team Sagamore Conference play started on Tuesday as CHS hosted Tri-West who is in their first season of having a girls tennis team. The Athenians made quick work of the Bruins and began SAC play 1-0 with a 5-0 sweep. Sam Rohr at one singles won her match 6-1, 6-0, Reagan Cox was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at two singles and Emily Weliver earned a 6-3, 6-1 win. At one doubles Isla Steward and Alayna Hall earned a 6-1, 6-1 win and the two doubles team of Emma Buser and Amy Weliver were 6-0, 6-0 winners.
CHS is back in action tonight with another Sagamore Conference matchup at Lebanon.
Softball
Chargers fall to Warriors
The Sagamore Conference in softball and baseball for that matter does no favors. North Montgomery softball welcomed Danville on Tuesday and the Warriors would walk away with a 12-2 win in five innings as the Chargers scored both of their runs in the first inning.
Piper Ramey went 2-3 with a two-RBI single with Faith Shirar and Emma Pyle each getting a hit. Hope Delp got the start on the mound as Ramey threw 146 pitches in their 20-10 loss on Monday. North falls to 2-4 (0-3 SAC) and will make the trip to Danville on Wednesday night to conclude the two-game SAC series.
Track and Field
Chargers bested by talented Harrison squad
North Montgomery track and field made the trip to take on an always talented Harrison team on Tuesday. The Chargers would get swept by the Raiders as the girls were bested 115-12 and the boys 114-18.
Individual standouts for the Chargers included junior Hailey Kunz who set a new school record in the pole vault with a height of nine feet even. Paige Yarger took fifth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.17, freshman Mady Holt sixth in the 200 meter dash at 29.93 and Holt also took third in the 400 with a time of 1:07.18 and third in the high jump. Fellow freshman Sarah Hopper was second in the 800 with a 2:50.00 and fourth in the 1600 with a 6:38.25. Katelyn Woolwine was second with a 6:10.57 and fourth in the 1600 at 14:12.28. Gracie Ratcliff took third in the 300 hurdles (52.56).
The Charger boys had good showings from the likes of Owen Utterback who took third in the 100 (11.68), second in the 200 (23.04), and was first in the long jump (22ft. 1in.). Jayden Thompson was fourth in the 100 hurdles and third in the 300 hurdles. Kelby Harwood jumped six-feet even to take second in the high jump. Jacob Rice was second in the shot put and Chase Welshimer took third in the pole vault.
North Montgomery will travel to Lebanon on Thursday for a three-team meet with the Tigers and Danville.
Baseball
Mustangs no-hit by Patriots
Seeger baseball flexed their muscle in Tuesday’s WRC game against Fountain Central as the Mustangs visited the Patriots and were no-hit in a 10-0 loss in five innings.
Seeger scored eight runs in the fourth inning to pull away as they scored their 10 runs on seven hits. Bryson Davis got the start for the Mustangs and gave up nine runs (eight earned in three and a third innings. He walked four and struck out just two. Chase Holland threw the no-no for Seeger and struck out eight and walked two .
FC falls to 5-4 (3-2 WRC) on the season and will host the Patriots on Wednesday.
