Excitement fills the air as the Sugar Creek Players proudly presents “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,” a timeless classic that promises to captivate audiences today through Sunday at the Vanity Theater in downtown Crawfordsville.
Performances are at 7 p.m. today, Thursday and Friday; 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday; and 5 p.m. Sunday.
“The Chronicles of Narnia have been my favorite stories since I was my daughter’s age,” said Sarah Sieferman who plays the White Witch. “I’m so glad I finally worked up the courage to do a show at the Vanity. Watching it go from page to stage is so inspiring. I’m excited to bring this story to the community.”
Nathan Woosley who plays Peter is excited to connect with new people.
“It’s fun because it has given me a chance to act as an honorable character instead of a goof or a villain,” he said.
Madelyn Snell who plays Susan is another key character in the production. She finds comfort and excitement in the familiar theater space.
“My favorite part of the experience is being able to come to the place that makes me feel most at home and making all these new friends,” Snell said.
Theater-goers won’t find anyone more excited to tackle a character than Griffin Birk, who plays Edmund.
“Edmund to me is a challenge to act because he’s so unlike me, but that has been what made it so fun,” Birk said.
Ingrid Sieferman plays Lucy, the character who unlocks the world of Narnia.
“Without Lucy, we might have never met characters such as Mr. Tumnus, Aslan and the White Witch,” she said.
Peyton Suiter, a first-year teacher at Crawfordsville High School, plays Aslan.
“It’s been incredible to spend time in the community with young people of different ages, learning new ways to interact with them and hopefully making a difference,” he said.
Directed by Brian Swick and Nate Baldwin, this production promises to be a delightful and enchanting experience for all. The production was made possible by the sponsorship of Keith and Betsy Strain.
