Al Lowery of Darlington passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026, at Franciscan Health of Lafayette. He was 73.
He was born July 26, 1953, in Lafayette, to Louis and Arlene Grimes Lowery. Al attended Linden High School and on Feb. 23, 1974, he married Janice Lyon. She preceded him in death April 20, 2018. He was self-employed most of his life and also spent time in the United States Marine Corps.
He is survived by his sister, Ruth (Pete) Osborn; and his children, Jason Casey, AmyJo Lowery, Lee (Sally) Lowery, Angie (Chuck) Logan, Nikki (Chris) Cogdill and Matt Lowery. He was blessed with 24 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who brought much joy to his life.
He was a proud member of the Moose Lodge and cherished the many friendships he made throughout his life. Whether old friends or new, he considered many of them family.
Above all, he loved his family and friends. He also had a passion for cars and enjoyed building and working on things. These interests, along with the relationships he built along the way, were an important part of who he was and the life he lived.
A celebration of life will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8 at the Moose Lodge, 402 Waynetown Road, Crawfordsville.
