The stage is set, the lights are dimmed, and the excitement is palpable as the Sugar Creek Players prepare to delight audiences with their production of “Annie Jr.” at the Vanity Theater.
Under the expert guidance of director Steve Frees, music director Jennie Swick, choreographer Glenda Frees and production by Correna and Laurie Vellner, this musical extravaganza promises to be a treat for all ages.
The show stars the talented Haleigh King in the iconic role of Annie. King embodies the character with her vibrant performance, capturing the spunk and sweetness that make Annie a beloved character for generations.
“What I love most about being Annie is that we have similar personalities,” King said. “Spunky, but also sweet! I also love singing and performing with a supportive cast and amazing producers and directors.”
The cast is a testament to the talent within the community, featuring more than 70 children from all three county schools and beyond. This diverse and energetic group adds a dynamic layer to the production, bringing the story to life with their enthusiasm.
The collaboration between director Steve Frees, music director Swick and choreographer Glenda Frees have transformed the Vanity Theater into a magical world where the timeless story of “Annie” unfolds — following her journey from Miss Hannigan’s orphanage — to Oliver Warbucks’ mansion.
The show runs from Thursday through Sunday and then again Feb. 15-18, but with limited tickets available. Performance times 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday or 2:30 p.m. Sundays.
