WAYNETOWN — Good food and fun are on the agenda for the Waynetown Fish Fry. The annual event sponsored by the Waynetown Merchants Association begins today and continues through Saturday. It is considered the longest continuous festival in Montgomery County.
Activities begin today with Huesman Entertainment Carnival Night. They will offer a $25 wrist bracelet special and provide a variety of children and adult rides and carnival games. There will be all types of carnival food available, including elephant ears, cotton candy, candied apples and sandwiches. There are no fish meals served today.
Food service begins at 11 a.m. Thursday and continues until 9 p.m. in the Rusk Shelter at the park. The menu includes fish and chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, French fries, baked beans, desserts and drinks. Proceeds from Thursday’s sales will be directed to the Waynetown Freedom Festival.
Food service Friday and Saturday also is from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The menu consists of fish sandwiches, hot dogs, baked beans, creamy slaw, potato salad, desserts and drinks.
Other festival activities include Bingo from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and live entertainment at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. City Lites is the featured act Friday and the Logan Kirby Band is the main act Saturday. The North Montgomery Extreme Dance Team will perform at 4:30 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday.
Huesman entertainment will open at 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday with a $25 wrist bracelet special which allows unlimited rides at the carnival.
Raffle tickets for a Henry Rifle will be sold at the Waynetown Merchants Booth along with nightly 50/50 tickets Thursday through Saturday.
Huesman Entertainment will offer $20 wrist bands from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.
The Fish Fry Parade kicks off at 3 p.m. Saturday. Parade grand marshal is life-long resident Gwen Martin. The parade will include local scouts, floats, decorated golf carts, dance team, antique tractors and cars plus special guests. Several of parade participants plan to throw out candy and chewing gum.
Anyone interested in being in the parade is asked to meet at the old school grounds at 2:30 p.m.
There will be an antique car, truck and tractor show beginning 3:30-7 p.m. Saturday.
Raffle winners will be announced at 9 p.m. Saturday.
