April marks Safe Baby Haven Month

Posted

April has been designated nationally as Safe Baby Haven Month, a time to recognize safe alternatives to infant abandonment by promoting Safe Haven laws.

The National Safe Haven Alliance says 4,295 babies have been saved nationally using the law.

Under the law, a parent can anonymously relinquish an unharmed infant with a Safe Baby Haven provider. Hospital staff are approved Safe Haven providers in every state. Law enforcement, fire stations, emergency medical providers, as well as calling 911, are all Safe Haven options in Indiana.
